Mission Statement
The Baby Ph.D. Childcare Network is dedicated to development and support of high-quality in-home and family childcare for children 0-3 whose families live and work in the Hyde Park and University of Chicago Communities.
General Information
The primary services provided by the Baby Ph.D. Childcare Network are:
» Professional support, information, and referrals for in-home childcare providers and nannies serving children 0-3 years old
» Consultation and support for families employing nannies or receiving childcare from friends and family members.
» Centralized childcare information and referral for families seeking childcare within the Baby Ph.D. Childcare Network.
To support these activities, we also operate a childcare resource center and sponsor daily activity workshops for children 0-3 and their caretakers.
Members
Baby Ph.D. Childcare Network members include licensed and license-exempt daycare homes, families who employ nannies or friend & family caregivers, and stay at home moms and dads.
Baby Ph.D. Childcare Network members and the children in their care are a diverse group both racially and culturally. All members are dedicated to high quality early childhood education that takes place within safe and loving home environments. Daily activites are designed to foster the growth of the whole child through a variety of age-appropriate and fun activities.
Network members located in central Hyde Park frequently get together for play groups, trips to local parks, and to participate in group learning activities. Larger group activities such as art, dance, sign language, and yoga are held at the Hyde Park Neighborhood Club. These activities are also open to the community - click on Activities for Children for more information.
Network Funding
The Baby Ph.D. Childcare Network is supported by a grant from the Child Care Initiative (CCI) of the University of Chicago and University of Chicago Hospitals. Additional funding comes from membership and class fees.
